Has anyone have a birmingham hip replacement thinking of have one not sure?
Answer: The "Birmingham hip" surgery is different from a total hip replacement as you probably already know.
I've had both hips replaced (before the resurfacing device received FDA approval for use surrounded by the US). Here are some links on resurfacing from a website developed by an ortho surgeon as a service to patients that you may want to look at. I notice that the site is individual revised but the text (in English translation) is still productive and will give you some perspective on the pros and cons of resurfacing vs. total replacement.

Not exactly sure what a "Birmingham" hip replacement is but I enjoy had my disappeared hip replaced and would do it again in a minute. Have have both my knees replaced and a hip replacement is a breeze compared to knees. I was contained by a wheel stool before I have my hip replacement and can now wander great. I have osteoarthritis so cartilage wear our. Have also had my right wrist fussed.
Of course in that is always medical risks, but you must want if pain outweighs risk. Good luck.
