Answer: Sounds like a preexisting problem. Picking up a box would hurt the lower posterior. Does he play sports? Dig into his whereabouts and what he's done lately. Arm wrestler? Football? Skateboarding? Any of these can cause the nerves and muscles to be inflamed or pinched. Neck issues may be the problem. See a neurologist. Ask for a MRI.
