Why cant doctors operate on someone when they are contained by a coma?

the person have punctured lungs, liver, broken neck (but not spinal cord) lots of other injuries but wont operate.

of late curious.

Answer:    IF THE PATIENT IS IN A COMA THE PATIENT IS NOT STABLE ENOUGH TO GO THRU THE STRESS OF SURGERY THEY WILL OPERATE ONLY WHEN THEY KNOW HE OR SHE WILL NOT CODE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OPERATION, CODE MEANING THE HEART STOP BEATING, THE PUNCTURED LUNG CAN BE FIXED BY INSERTING A CHEST TUBE AND THE LIVER UNLESS IT SEVERED A VESSEL WILL HAVE TO HEAL ITS SELF. THE BROKEN NECK WILL BE OPERATED ON TO STABLIZE THE BONES BUT THAT WILL TAKE TIME TO HEAL ALSO.
I would imagine it have something to do with monitoring the patients important signs and the extremely low blood pressure a coma patient would hold.
