if you didn't have an injury to it, I don`t know carpal tunnel from the mouse on your computer?? :) you might go to the dr, but i would appropriate some ibuprofen first, antiflammatory. You could have a small cyst on the ligament, I had a friend that have it and they had to do surgery to remove the tiny cyst
My friend explained it close to this: your tendons go through these tiny rings and if you return with one of these cysts it wont let it travel through the ring so the joint get stuck. It can be stuck open or stuck closed. Either path you do need to see a Dr

Seriously, it could be an rash sign of arthritis.
Someone suggested it could be cyst... I do not think so. Body is a wonderful components and cyst is a debris. Body know how to clear up debris surrounded by the system efficiently and no thing what these things get wash out in any urine or the other one you do every morning. Wonderful, this body thingy isn't it?
I do not know how old you are but arthritis can attack at any age. If vanished untreated, it spreads to other joints. Get it looked after. Your doc will do some simple test and will tell you the plausible causes and suggest a remedy.
Take ibuprofin contained by the meantime to keep the inflammation down.
