Answers: I dislike intensely to disappoint you but if you are bipolar over the counter isn't going to work. I have sleeping problems and I'm not bipolar. No event how tired I am or how long I have gone lacking sleep nothing I own tried otc works. Your condition is too serious to ignore or try to treat on your own. Don't pass up trying other meds or other Dr's if you need to.
I use melatonin. You can buy it anywhere and it works great for me. Benadryl (or anything next to diphenhydrenamine) is known to knock you out. Valarian root is also pretty upright for relaxing.
Melatonin also can help beside depression, so it sounds like a apposite fix for you.
I tended to enjoy very erratic sleeping pattern between school, work, and fun.. so when i needed to drop asleep at a time i knew i wouldn't be sleepy, i took something call Simply Sleep, by tylenol. But anything that has its stirring ingredient, Diphenhydramine, will work. You should be able to buy it at any grocery store.. or walmart, where on earth i get it,

I agree with Bo on both Homeopathic remedies... I hold heard that both work capably. I personally use Simply Sleep when I NEED to take to sleep but I can see where that may make happen a drug interaction for you. Believe it or not, Chamomile tea does kinda work as does exercise and reading before bed.Keeping your sleeping nouns cooler at night is also something to suggest about. Find an exercise you wallow in and do it at least an hour a daytime or as much as you can tolerate. Eat simple whole foods, no cigarettes, no alcohol and specifically no drugs of any kind.
The just thing I would recommend to you in the past sleep is little bit of melatonin. This is nonprescription over-the-counter supplement and it is effective if taken 1/2 hour past sleep. It helps regulate the circadian rhythm prerequisite for restful sleep. There are no side effects as it is a natural substance that we lose as we age.
