Clean wound after stitches?
So I just get some stitches on my toe... it was bleeding greatly, so my doctor told me to elevate my leg on a pillow when I'm sleeping. How long will it be before I can without risk put my leg down... I'm scared the blood is going to come out again. The doctor told me to whip out the dressing after 2 days, and wash the blood sour. But it's dried, and hard to come sour. Is it okay if I soak my feet within a tub of water so that it get all cleaned up? Also, am I suppose to put strange dressing (ointment, gauze,etc) on every day?
Answers: If you save your foot elevated, the swelling will go down, the flesh will stop pulling against the stitches and the bleeding should stop. If you're supposed to run the dressing off after two days and bath off the blood, that's when you can soak it to verbs and loosen the bandage. Avoid pulling at it because you could be tear at the stitches. In the meantime leave it alone and simply watch the colour of any exposed flesh surrounded by the area. If you're concerned, later go see the doctor.
don't soak your foot it could result in infection, you want to change the dressing twice a morning, and wash the toe near warm hose down and soap, everything doesn't have to come stale just swab gently, also elevate the foot when you are sitting or lay down, you don't have to own it up all afternoon
use lots of hydrogen peroxide several times a day and that will maintain it clean. soaking surrounded by a pan of marine may introduce bacteria. i would adaptation at least twice to three times a hours of daylight. the more the better
