i used to be afraid of the dark too! purely sleep with a nightlight on or walk to bed with the TV on ! :D
My mistrust of the dark be never quite as gaping as yours, but it did extend into my late teens and rash adulthood. I other kept at least a nightlight on and slept completely covered up, even when it be very hot. I don't know why I have this fear, nor did I ever desire help for it.
As an full-grown, I was within the habit of reading myself to sleep. My reading frothy was on a timer so that it would turn itself stale after I was asleep. Later, when I be married, my husband always fell asleep to the TV which be also on a timer. I didn't complain about his TV and, surrounded by return, he didn't complain about my reading bedside light.
I'm not in the infatuation of reading myself to sleep any longer though my husband does still fall asleep to the TV. Most of the time, it's plenty to know that he's right there subsequent to me. Sometimes the fear still get to me and I'll turn the TV back on, really low, to a documentary waterway in charge to fall stern asleep.
