Could too heaps reps too rash raison d`¨ētre knees injury?
At 68 joined gym to start toning. Owner/trainer on first call in put me thru 20lb, 8 reps on 4 machines. 2nd visit he needed me to increase reps. I couldn't and felt 1st time be too much. 1 month later, couldn't and still can't saunter without a support device. Started 7/07 and have excruciating pain for weeks and am still misserable. Now going thru phy analysis, but getting no better. Swelling and inflamation won't go away even after med's. Misserable and contained by constant pain. Can't put your foot over 100 ft, and can't stand more than approx 10 mins. Can't bend knees to sit, or rise from sitting position without support and much spasm. Had no problems before going to that gym and going thru those exercises. Would you influence this could be primary cause of problem? Any suggestions?
Answer: At 68, you do not state if you are overweight, enjoy any underlying health problems close to Osteoarthritis: wear and tear. At 68, you would be better going swimming, aqua jog or Pilate's. As the PT about what TYPE of toning program you should try, as gyms and weights are not suiting you. Good Luck
maybe. but 20 lbs, 8 reps doesn't sound close to a lot of counterbalance for a 68 year old guy, and a trainer would not suggest to increase weights if he saw that you be struggling. Did you get your doctor's clearance beforehand starting on the program? Perhaps, you had some outmoded injury that became worse after the training? Did you grasp Xrays and all? what does your doctor speak? Is it arthritis? Do you have diabetis or another complicating condition?
I hope your knees recovers fully and soon. Next time, look for a trainer certified surrounded by working with race with injuries and age-related problems. Myself - I'm 40-ish but fleshy and my knees are bad, so the trainer I'm working near right now have been trained to concord with it - and sofar things he suggested really backing with eliminate knee dull pain after workouts.
