How does a full body scan work?
how does it work?
what does it do?
and how much does it cost?
Answer: Often they inject a dye as well to "hurricane lantern up" the blood vessels and you drink a dye as capably to delineate the GI tract. Then you go through the Cat scanner which take a type of Xray picture in slices through out most of the body (neck to pelvis usually). These are not usually covered by insurance and are perform at private scan clinics and run about $3000.00 plus (or minus a little). They look for anything "not typical" and next refer you back to your doc for any followup. Not everything shows up however--there are false positives and false negative.
it is basically a cat scan or MRI of the entire body, surrounded by search of out of the ordinary growths, called neoplasms, inert organ tissue, or any sign of infection. If anything looks suspicious, a biopsy follows, and bloodwork confirms the results.
