If your ACL is totally ripped .Can it mend on it's own ?
Answer: No. You can learn to live short an ACL though by strengthening the muscles that support the knee structure. It will still own some degree of instability so when mortal physically active it would be recommended to wear a brace for support. You would still enjoy your PCL, MCL, and LCL to give rather support unless you injured one of them as well. With an ACL injury usually the MCL is also artificial.
A total rip would not repair itself in my humble view.
No, you are going to need surgery. My husband tore his surrounded by highschool and he had to own surgery. Good Luck, I know it is painful.
There is no blood flow to the ACL so it can't repair itself. Without an ACL your knees will always be at risk for letting you down when you obligation it most.
I had mine replaced when I be 50 and the rehab process was not a piece of cake (I really worked at it). It be totally worth it as I can now play basketball beside my teenagers.
Good luck!
No, ACL can not mend on its own.
There are number of factors to process prior to giving an answer.
Is your leasion just on the ACL or have some of the other structures surrounded by the knee be injured? An ACL rupture solely,is very undercooked;it is usually followed with meniscal opening and sometimes medial collateral ligament or the posterior cruciate ligament. If nothing else is injured, and if you are not into sports, than you probably wouldn't call for surgery in your go, especially if you are 40 or over. But if you are an active athlete or you relish recreational sports often, you should own it repaired. If you find out whether you have a torn meniscus or any other structure, please submit the information.I would, however, recommend an arthroscopy of the knees just to be sure what exactly you own injured.
