can i catch a bed or mattress on prescription?
i have severe rheumatoid arthritis and hold been told that i call for a new bed or at the markedly least an orthopaedic mattress. can a gp or consultant prescribe one on a private prescription. but for is there any other channel that i can at least carry help towards the purchase of said item. I do work but cannot afford the extortionate prices. I recieve sophisticated rate mobility allowance and i live in bham uk

if it comes int he form of a tablet, syrup or pessary later aye no bother!I'm a medical assistant, and we own patients in your same situation. Yes you can gain a mattress on prescription if it's deemed medically basic. But you will have to seize it from one of those home medical supply companies. And if you have insurance, and your Dr. say yes you need this, they hold to pay for it. Good Luck :)
I don't think you can acquire a bed/mattress on prescription, but my recollection, from working in a small department store, was that if the mattress be needed for medical purposes, and your GP was of a mind to verify this, the bed/mattress becomes VAT exempt.
I don't know if the rules hold changed, but this was clearly true until 2003.
