You can try to spread some wood glue on your finger and consent to it dry for about 1 hour.When the gum dries, it should stick to the slivers and pull them out.
It works for wood.can't say-so I've tried it on cactus though.

Soak your thumb in heat up water for a few minutes. This will loosen the skin and the pricks. If the pricks don't come right out, put some cartridge (scotch tape, mask tape, electrical video -- whatever description you have) on your freshly-soaked thumb and peel the cassette off slowly; the cartridge should pull the pricks out of loosened skin pretty easily.If you enjoy some epsom salt, include a little to the hose before soaking your thumb; the saline will help loosen the skin and the pricks even better!

I just pulled one of those out of my foot today, it be stuck in in attendance for two days. I used a needle to verbs it out.IF YOU HAVE SOME ELMERS GLUE COVER YOUR THUMB WITH IT. WHEN THE GLUE DRIES PEEL IT OFF. THE SPINES SHOULD COME OUT WHEN YOU PEEL OFF THE GLUE. ALSO, IF YOU HAVE DUCT TAPE COVER YOUR THUMB WITH IT THEN SNATCH IF OFF QUICKLY. THE SPINES WILL STICK TO THE TAPE. GOOD LUCK.
