About the same as a DO have further training in joints & bones. They are in fact practicing medicine. The best one is the one who have further post-graduate specialty training to become a specialist, like internal prescription, neurology, dermatology, Og/Gyn. If not them they are [practicing General Medicine or called GP (General Practitioners).

Both are medical doctors. The leading difference is that a D.O. treats the total body. Not just the specific illness/issue. They own a better understanding on how an injury/illness effects other parts of the body. They also focus on preventive thoroughness. Neither is better than the other.
