My girlfriend uses an iud and she just loves it.There is an alternate oral contraceptive you can use explicitly just as potent, and safe for you and babe-in-arms. Just ask your doctor.
FYI - this type of oral contraceptive does not include estrogen.

No reason to be panicky of the IUD. It is the safest method of b.c. going right now. It is mortified when it is placed, but that subsides within 15 minutes. firstly dont think that you wont crash pregnant while you are breastfeeding, i was told that, consequently fell pregnant again when my son was 3 months infirm. depending on how long ago you gave birth i reflect you can use almost any form of contraception. you say you are affraid of an iud, why?if you can afford a copper iud id strongly recomend it. have it put in can be immensely uncomfortable it feel like a grind pain but once its contained by you can just forget in the region of it, you wont get any side effects. as next to anything they do have risks. if it hasnt be done proply it could come out or move somewhere else in your body within which case you will enjoy to have it removed. iv have one for 3 years and iv never had a problem.

the only oral pill currently used is the "mini-Pill", here are various assorted name brands available. it is a single ingredient pill and will not affect lactation nor is it excreted in breast milk. so it is not detrimental for you and your child. here are some choices:the progestin-only pill (POP) also called the "mini-pill" (Micronor, Errin, Nor-QD, Ovrette, Microval, etc)
the birth control injection (Depo Provera)
the progesterone-releasing IUD (Mirena, Progestasert)
the birth control push in (Norplant, Implanon).
IUD's, foam, gels, hold a high disappointment rate. IUD's the least.
condoms, work 99% if you use them 100% of the time but most individuals do not.

To second what KVet said, ask your ob.gyn something like the progestin-only pill, a BC pill with progestin but not estrogen (regular BC pills own both; you shouldn't take estrogen while breastfeeding). It's notably effective, but individual when taken at the exact same time of day, everyday.If you know that's impracticable for you, you'll probably need to stick to a barrier-method resembling condoms or a diaphragm.

I used birth control pills, the brand signature was call NOR QD! It is progesterone only, and have extremely low dose of hormone! It worked for me!Although I guess some people reflect that it will screw with your babies hormones, I never thought it did! Plus why would a doctor prescribe something so it could hurt your infant.
The best thing are Depo-Provera injections (progesterone), the doctor give you an injection in the muscle and it lasts for 3 months, after you get a current one.
