Have you or somebody close ever had rear surgery for a herniated disk?

I be talking to an nouns about my husband's surgery, and it turns out equal surgeon did her husband's back. For him, they go in and removed the disk, a bit than trying to fix the herniation. They then put within an artificial disc. I don't know what it is made of, and I don't know a lot of details, excluding he has have significant reduction contained by pain and problems. He does, however, still hold some pain.
