What do you do for migraines?


What tips do you have? I can't bear imitrex or anything like that, and I am pretty predetermined with strain killers.
I am looking and hoping for some home remedies, or what you do to relax.
I hold been getting them going on for every two weeks and they are lasted going on for 4 or 5 days. The first 24 hours being the worst, where on earth I am throwing up, and nearly in tears over the aching.
Any and all proposal will be hugely appreciated, and Thank you!!

Okay...I have have migraines for the past 10 years. Do you enjoy a neurologist??? as one will be very courteous in prescribing the appropiate medication for you.and find one beside a specialty in headache.I completely understand your stomach-ache...(ihave one right now!!)...adn achieve them 1-2x's per week and they can last up 6 days sometimes.(I currently get hold of an injection of 4mg of Dilaudid (pain medicine) w/ 50 mg of Vistaril (it relaxes you & enhances the niggle medicine) 2-3 times a weeks) so I have a few practical hints..yes, the other answer is correct STAY AWAY from possible triggers, such as:

-Emotional stress
-Menstrual periods
-Changes surrounded by normal sleep shape
-Extreme fatigue
-Specific foods and beverages
-Excess caffeine intake or withdrawal
-Skipping meal; fasting
-Changing weather conditions
-Exercise
-Smoking
-Bright and flickering lights
-Odors
-Aged cheeses: blue cheese, mozzarella, feta, cheddar, parmesan
-Alcohol: red wine, beer, whiskey, champagne
-Caffeine: coffee, chocolate, tea, colas, sodas
-Pepperoni, hot dogs, luncheon meat
-Bread and other baked goods
-Dried fruits
-Smoked or dried fish
-Potato chips
-Pizza, peanuts, chicken livers, and other specific foods

To Avoid Your Triggers:

*Watch what you chomp through and drink. If you get a headache, write down any food or drink you have before getting it. If you see a model over time, eliminate that item! (It's essential for you to keep a Headache chronicle....write down the time you get them, how oodles hours of sleep you got, any possible passionate triggers...this is EXTREMELY helpful)
*Eat regularly. Skipping meals can trigger migraines in some general public.
*Curb the caffeine. Excess caffeine (in any food or drink) can cause migraines. But mind: Cutting back violently also causes migraines.
*Be discreet with exercise. Although doctors support getting regular exercise to stay healthy, exercise can trigger headache. You may need to cart an anti-inflammatory drug to prevent exercise migraines (sometimes taking a Motrin can help, when the migraine first starts).
*Get regular sleep. Changes in your commonplace sleep habits can make happen migraines. Being overly tired can also trigger migraines.
*Learn to cope with stress. Emotional upsets and stressful events are adjectives migraine triggers. Anxiety, worry, fatigue, and excitement can intensify a migraine's severity. Learn to cope near stress better - through counseling, biofeedback, relaxation training, and possibly taking an antidepressant.

Now, as far as the whole Imitrex article, I too can't take it , or Axert or Relpax.as I hold very adverse effects to them...

As a preventative I use Topamax.(it's sometimes used for individuals w/ epliepsy as well & cause weight loss)

Other informative preventatives are:

-Nortriptylene
-Inderal
-Depakote (warning: it makes you gain weight)
-Varapamil
-Lithium (this is a psch med & cannot be used in conjuction near lots of meds..such as cold medicine & motrin!!)
-Lotensin (blood pressure meds can sometimes be helpful)
-Ambien (to help if you hold bad sleeping traditions or aren't getting sufficient sleep)
-Blocadren
-Amitriptylene
-Xyrem

Other Pain Medication Options:

-Toradol (an anti-inflammatory)
-Morphine
-Midrin
-Maxalt
-Amerge
-Zomig
-Frova
-Relpax
-Axert


.for pain I use the Stadol Nasal Spray (the generic performance is Butorphanol Tartrate)..I also have Dilaudid pills (this is a strong misery pill)...and I use Promethazine for the nauseousness.you can also try Meclizine (as this helps if you also hold dizziness with the migraines)

I'm not sure if you own tried Migranal as a preventative (it's a nasal spray version of DHE).it didn't work for me.but have worked for many of my friends.

Also, use an rime pack and stay in a drastically dark room w/ relaxing music....additionally, if you enjoy a loved one or significant other, have them pat the back of your nouns and the area where on earth u receive the migraines most...this REALLY helps the stabbing anguish of the headache.

As, far as herbal medicines.You can try taking 6mg of Melatonin (this herb will formulate you seelpy!!) every night back bed (usually you may see results within 6 weeks)..also, you can try Feverfew..or Magnesium (many migraine sufferers enjoy low levels surrounded by their body)..

OTHER TREATMENTS:

Accupuncture is the newest remedy that I am using...it have helped my migraines significantly...however, I must tip off you sometimes when one attends accupuncture.it can get worse earlier it gets better...sometimes it can pocket over 6-7 visits previously you see the results.

Accupressure is a class that teaches you which pressure point to squeeze to breed the pain be in motion away.the class last for in the order of 2 hrs. and is usual taught inwardly your local HMO

Botox injections also help some...for me this be not effective (but as you know relations respond differently)...so it may be the cure for you.

Biofeedback is a training uses special equipment that monitors physical tension to edify you how to control the physical processes that are related to stress.Once familiar next to this technique, you can use it, without the monitoring equipment, to stop an attack or use up its effects.

also go to the doctor and they may know how to find out what the source of the migraine is and prescribe a medication that will help prevent them.

take ibprofin I know I spelled that wrong anyways bring the 800 mil and that should work you might need to step to the doctor for the 800 mil... but that always works for me... hope you touch better soon. if that doesnt work try a nice warm tub and then simply try to sleep as much as possible.. you might end up have to go to the doctors anyways...

i take ibuprofen or paracetamol. but i don't love taking meds so i try to avoid what triggers my migraine similar to glaring lights and hot places.

Are eye lids prone to repetitive strain injury?

God it's a curse - I bring lots of miagraines as well.

Have a drink of dampen, (try really hard not to throw it up)
and progress to sleep straight away in a unbelievably very gloomy room.

Sleep is the only cure for a miagraine when you bring back one.
That horrible feeling afterwards is miagraine hangover - where on earth your to scared to drink and feel resembling you have be run over.

Prevention is better. Try and notice the starting signs - usually funny figment of the imagination or numbness / tingles in your fingers or hands.
If you can thieve panadol straight away and go stay surrounded by the dark for 20 minutes - you can usually prevent a miagraine.

Make sure you make clear to you doctor next time your in that that your getting miagraines. Sometimes too much caffiene, a pulled muscle, eye problems or ovary pain can provide you miagraines.

I also find that drinking a very insipid coffee (like 1 third of a teaspoon of coffee) also helps - it dilates your blood vessel, making the throbbing seem smaller quantity worse.
