YesIt would usually hurt you a lot if one of your arteries be cut. In my experience with trauma and doing blood gas arterial puncture, it's a terribly sensitive body part.
There are some exceptions to the discomfort issue: anything that stuffs up the nerves that would normally dispatch the pain signal (leprosy, lateral neuropathy, etc)
If an artery is cut, typically you would bleed bright red blood and in a pulsatile cult. This is not a 100% guarantee of arterial injury as sometimes large vein can give a pulsatile looking squirt of blood too!
