Mystery diagnosis?
dh complained on Thurs. of a sore back, and on Fri. he thought he be coming down with a cold. On Sat., he be writhing in pain -- said his lower spinal column was greatly sore & had misery urinating, which made me think it be possibly a kidney stone. He also said his skin was sensitive to the touch. After much convincing, I manage to get him to the ER. He tested distrustful for a kidney stone. They ran adjectives kinds of test (including an emergency EKG and chest x-ray when he was have severe chest pains), but after 6 hours in the ER, they just told him it be a virus and gave him two prescriptions -- Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and Diazepam (Valium) -- past sending him home and telling him to see his doctor contained by two days. I will be taking him to the doctor tomorrow, but we don't have seriously of faith within him, either (he have already prescribed a med in the recent past that my dh was allergic to). Any philosophy? Could this really be a virus? What kind of a virus would require hydrocodone and diazepam?!

He really needs to be drinking more fluids. The popsicles are a start, but he should try to sip on cool fluids continuously.Is the cramp on only one side? If so, I might agree near a shingles diagnosis, although a fever near shingles is irregular. Because the skin was sensitive to the touch, it could be a muscle verbs, although once again, fever is suspect.
Did they do a urine culture to audition for kidney infection? They should probably repeat it if they did, and if not, he requirements one.
It could be a virus, for which there really isn't any medication to "cure" it. (with shingles anti-virals will shorten the course). The difficulty urinating is also interesting, as that might indicate a bladder infection or prostate inflammation or augmentation. Could he have be dehydrated? Pain can also raison d`¨ētre difficulty in peeing.
Very interesting symptoms. I hope you will post the results after he's diagnosed by his doctor, if at all possible.
The Hydrocodone is merely for any pain that he may own, and the Diazepam is to help him to relax (though commonly both these meds should NOT be taken at the same time).
Give it a few days, if he's still hunch bad later take him to doctors.

The hydrocondone will help his dull pain. I don't see how the diazepam will help him save for get him addicted to it.Has anyone screen his urine for a bacterial infection? If it is bacterial in nature he will promising need antibiotics. If it is viral he will only have to agree to the virus run its course.
