Any podiatrists surrounded by the house?

The problem: after I run the area circled in red surrounded by the picture below swells up like crazy. It swells up so much that there is no definition to my ankle bone. It's a moment ago one big bump. It hurts enough if I were a wus I'd probably dull. It's a sort of sharp pain when I step - not an aching, evocative pain.

Lots of ppl told me it was a stress fracture, adjectives among runners. Time would heal it.

It started in January of 07. I stopped running surrounded by August of 07 to see if it would heal. I had shin splints anyway so doesn`t matter what...I needed a break. I started running 3 weeks ago on trails (softer impact than the concret I was running on before). No pain. Great!

Tonight my ankle is swollen + hurts again. I'm icing it w/a pack of frozen pineapples and then heating it w/a warmness pad.

Is this something I will just hold to live with? Will it get worse?

I am not a Podiatrist, but I do hold some knowledge of what may be going on with the swelling. You could own a bone spur on your heel, maybe just a small one, but big plenty to cause you pain. The swelling is a unconscious function of the body that produces fluids to the injured area.That's where the swelling is coming from. Ice should lone be applied to any injury within the first twenty four hours. Ice twenty minutes on, twenty off. You should immediately be using just moist heat, no dry grill because that only heats the bone and if departed on too long, will burn your skin. The best way to get the moist warmness, and it would be easier with someone assisting you, is to take a towel and soak it near hot water, ring it out and then apply it to the ankle nouns that is swollen. Have a second towel handy to quickly replace the first towel when it cools down. Your foot and leg should also be elevated above the heart, any laying in bed and resting the foot on three pillows or more, or lay on the floor and rest the foot on the cushion of a sofa or bench. This will definitely take the swelling down.You could pocket a Motrin 600 mg or 800 for the pain and it helps beside swelling. But if there is an injury somewhere, it will only swell again. You best move about to a Podiatrist and have that foot x-rayed. I wish for you the amazingly best young lady.
