Any tips for going to sleep?

Sometimes, I can get to sleep very easily, but others, I beyond doubt can't go to sleep. It's upsetting late at night when you are tired but you can't travel to sleep and I want to know if anybody has any tips on this.

First, I don't want to use medications. I already know about heat up milk, but if you know anything else, please let me know. This is an easy 10 pointer. Thanks!

Answers:    there are millions of 'cures' to try. none of them worked for me, but here are some I remember.

silent pitch black room
no electronics an hour or two until that time bed
don't use your bed for anything but sleeping
no caffeine past 2pm
exercise a lot during the day but not implicit bedtime
cut out a lot of sugar from your diet
don't go to bed until you think you can sleep
read
maintain the room at a cool temperature
listen to calming music (ocean noises, enya, ect.)
melatonin (an adjectives natural sleep aid)

I know you said you didn't want medication, but sometimes you just have to adopt that you need it. I'm not saying you do, but if your insomnia is debilitating uncooperatively consider it. My insomnia was so bad it put me in a psych ward.

unlike the ridiculous answer formerly me, i will give you some tips:


1. you can try elevating your pillow

2. try sleeping on a different bed (on the couch and see if you sleep better)

3. maybe excersise before going to bed

4. dont drink right before you sleep!

5. turn on some music or watch tv ( helps me!)

6. shut your eyes and dont uncap them until u fall asleep!

Tiring your mind is a great way to jump down asleep. And fyi Walden is probably the driest read in the world. Can't think of a more horrible book
