I have a music CD for relaxation and I listen to it every dark as I am trying to fall asleep. This is the 4th year I have this music on and very soon I am out cold by the second track! In fact, I am not sure I have ever hear it all the way to the close.A habit takes 30 days to cement or to lose, so it may whip a while but if you do it every night it will become an instant trigger for going to sleep.
For staying asleep they say that sleeping contained by a cold, dark uncluttered room induces deeper sleep.
Routine. Make a bedtime routine like wash your face, brushing your teeth and then drinking a cup of water or reading before bed. This will train your body and when you start your routine your body will start going into sleep mode automatically because it know that's whats coming next. Also going to bed around the same time every hours of darkness helps.
Drink a glass of milk or ask your doctor roughly a pill called melatonin. Milk has resembling a ingrediant that makes you more relaxed and calm and thats whats within melatonin. I used to take the stuff and it helped me achieve to sleep and sleep better. You should consult a doctor before taking the melatonin though. You should also get some excersize during the time because it makes you more tired and it makes you drop asleep better. p.s. hope this helps.!!

another way of falling asleep is to make sure that ur room is simple- you'll enjoy nothing interesting to look at, so you'll eventually fall asleep.
