B12 shot, arm extremely sore and scraggy, body doesnt occupy b12?
I just got subsidise from the doctors, and she told me my b12 levels was 218, and she said it supposed to be over 400.
Anyways, she give me a b12 shot in my upper arm muscle, and it feels really lacklustre, and hurts when I move my arm. How long will this last, and will it do it every time I need a shot, which is every other week.
She said that my body doesnt hold b12, what does that mean for me...
Answer: Yes, your B12 level is especially low and you are in danger of resolve and brain damage because of it. I have included a intermingle for more information on B12 and deficiency. Below is a quote from that site that briefly explains why you may need B12 shots.
"Pernicious anemia is usually an adjectives disease in which a deficiency of vitamin B12 occur despite adequate amounts in the diet. People near this disease cannot produce intrinsic factor, the substance needed to absorb vitamin B12. They need to receive injections of vitamin B12 so the vitamin can bypass the stomach and intrinsic factor and enter the bloodstream directly."
I'm sorry that you get it in the arm, I'm sure it will feel better within a few days. The thing with B12 is that it have to be shot into a muscle. I have no stomach, so I have to contribute myself B12 shots every other day to keep my level up. I do it directly into my thigh and I only get headache for a very short time.
Personally, I would ask your doctor if you could get the shot within your thigh. It isn't as painful and the pain doesn't inflict weakness or prolonged pain contained by the leg.
What it means for you, is probably that you don't have the intrinsic factor needed to backing you absorb B12 from food and will continue to have need of shots. Another alternative is sublingual (under the tongue) B12 supplements that you can buy at any vitamin shop. They will also help you bring up your B12 levels. Because they hold under your tongue, they bypass the whole stomach/intrinsic factor issue.
I hope that help a bit.

PS: I've had to give myself B12 shots since trickle of 2004 as I had my stomach removed and can't absorb B12 through food.
I am taking B12 shots once a week for a horizontal of 312. My doctor told me that was not deficient but a low conventional and I could receive the shot weekly. I wonder why she started you on every other week if it was way low.
On Monday I received my 3rd shot. I quality better.
Expect to walk in sign within every other week and receive a shot in the arm or rump. The next blood draw will determine if you necessitate to up or lower your B12.
Also My doctor told me the same thing around the absorbing B12. Some people just don't occupy it.
Could not sleeping apt be a sign of depression?
see your body doesnt absorb b12 that means your stomach isnt producing "intrinsic factor" which is what in truth absorbs b12... that is why you cant transport b12 orally because your body wouldnt even take it.. it would simply go right through you.. your doctor should have go over the reason why your not absorbing b12. it could be for a few reasons tolerate me know if you want them! if they can correct the underlying cause the good report is you might not have to keep getting b12 injections! What should i do if fell right on my knees playing basketball?
B12 SHOTS ARE BETTER IN THE RUMP. HAVE YOU TRIED SUBLINGUAL B12?Rib and belly distress radiating to put money on, what could it be?
