Why won't a doctor pass me a copy of the radiology report?

My 12yr old son slipped and hurt his ankle. I took him to Urgent Care where on earth they took xrays and told me it was fractured. They put a splint on it and told me to pinch him to his PCP for follow up and casting the subsequent day when the swelling go down.

His PCP made us wait for ever, next proceded to tell us to step get an nouns cast because the receptionist didn't agenda enough time for him to do the make. Then we had to come stern a few days later for a check up. My husband is a personal trainer and have sports medicine training specifically for sports injuries. When I requested a photo copy of the radiology report, to show my husband, the doctor didn't want to endow with me one. He gave me a frozen time and wanted to freshly "write it down" like anyone could ever read a doctors handwriting anyway. Finally, I threw a fit and he made me skulk another 15min to sign a form to get the copy.

What's the big settlement? I don't get why the hassle?
Answer:

Rimming! Is this discouraging for your health or a right way to freshens one breath first item in the morning?

i totally agree beside you. you DON'T need a doctor's point to read an xray.

i've been a nurse for 7 years immediately and i knew how to read an xray when i be a nursing assistant. as long as you have history within the field and proper education-you can read anything.

it's your right as a lenient (well patient's parent since he'a a minor) to request ANY or ALL parts of your medical record. it's your personal information and as long as you've signed the release form-they cannot refuse permission for to provide with the info you enjoy requested.

i applaude you for switching dr's-it sounds like the department was particularly unorganized and your son when through way more hassle and discomfort than he needed to to seek proper care

some doctors are on a power trip so when you ask for medical chronicles (especially things such as xrays) they feel resembling you are telling them they aren't doing nearby job and don't want their pride or ego hurt.

it be more work for the medical records clerk than it be for your dr-all he had to do be sign the stupid form

switch doctors and find one that is more concerned next to meeting your requests than keeping up with his ego!!

and as for the comment in the order of (HIPPA)-this law is to prevent medical information from person released without a patient's consent i.e. NOT a minor-since you are responsible for your son-HIPPA does not apply to you.

It simply sounds approaching the doctor is lazy. You hold a right to your records. The spanking new federal privacy act prevents him from giving this information to anyone minus your written permission but here shoud be no reason why you should not attain a copy for your own records. the doctor is an a** and you're smart to fire him and gain a new PCP. Good for you for throwing a fit and you should tolerate him know how you feel something like him.. for your satisfaction..

Question about nouns and back headache and stiffness and lightheadedness?

In this medical world where morphine flows resembling wine, let me update you something. There is only one god...and it's not the doctors. It's H.I.P.P.A (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and he might appear like a tool to you, but agree to me tell you. If you enjoy ever been put on the stand next to a copy of your run report and torn to pieces by some ambulance chasing scum sucking advocate, you'd understand why he is reluctant to bequeath anything away besides his business card.

Cramp-like pain contained by my right leg for 2 weeks.?

For one if you went to the ER it should own been casted right later and there... no ifs, ands or buts... they enjoy medicine for the swelling so that they can fix it quickly... no waiting until the next morning otherwise the fracture could turn into a deformity... also the hospital have to by law provide you beside a copy of all X-rays, MRI & CT scan when processed if requested and for free... all results will be record and printed out electronically and will also be available on CD... providing you go to a wired (technologically modern) hospital or clinic with a lab... be this a hospital in the US? it is also true that you must sign a consent form for the release of these medical documents... it sounds to me like you have to go to a county hospital since they made you walk here and there and dally around... there should not own been any hassle~
p.s. do not throw a fit or you could be waiting a great deal longer than 15 min.
