What is RSD?
Can someone please explain RSD. I have a relative who is diagnosed after an injury.
Answer:
What is the make happen and what is the solution to muscle aches and cramps?
Actually, it's reflex sympathetic dystrophy (not disorder, as one responder said). In the most up-to-date terminology, it's CRPS (complex regional anguish sydrome). There are other names too, but those are the most adjectives that you would hear today.
Simply put, it's a neurological disorder that usually (but not always) develops after an injury. The exact cause is unknown. Some say aloud it's due to an overreaction of the sympathetic nervous system (part of the autonomic or involuntary like a cat on hot bricks system), which reacts to an injury. This is freshly one well-known argument. There are many others out in that as well.
The crucial symptom is pain. Pain WAY out of preportion to the imaginative injury. It's usually burning and/or stabbing in nature. Other symptoms include color and warmth changes contained by the effected nouns, swelling, movement disorder (difficulty initiating movement, tremors, etc), abnormal sweating of the effect area, impressive hair/nail growth...the list go on.
Treatment includes medications, gall blocks (injections into the spine), and physical/occupational therapy. There are lots of other things to try, close to implanted devices that interrupt pain signals from the spinal cord (spinal cord stimulators).
It's great that you're looking for information on this condition. RSD sucks, and it's profoundly easier to deal near if one's family is construal and supportive.

Help! my ears own not "popped" back after an airplane trip!?
Reflex sympathetic disorder syndrome. Basically, after an injury, the nerves become oversensitive and can transport pain signals to the brain for touch receptors that usually would feel pale and painless like holding someones appendage. This disorder can spread to the entire body or just stay localized and may resolve contained by a short time (weeks/months) or possibly concluding for years and up to a lifetime. It can be a very devastating painful disorder. I know a few beside it and only one have it to the worst extent. He is now support to his normal after 10+ years of misery and a lot of treatments.
