There is a unusual movement in elder perfectionism called the Greenhouse project. It is the brainchild of Dr. William Thomas. His purpose is to abolish "nursing homes" as we now know them. I work at a Greenhouse within Lincoln Nebraska, the second to open surrounded by the country. A greenhouse is a home not an institution. At my house we have 9 elder each next to their own private room and bathroom. I am what is called a "Shahbaz" or total caregiver. We do all personal care, functional maintainence or wellness, cooking, cleaning etc. The system is unique because the elder direct their care. If they want to sleep till twelve noon they can. We cook for them so they eat what they want when they want. Next door at hand is an intergenerational daycare center and we get to borrow the kids whenever we want. Children and pets are other welcome. I own worked at nursing homes and hated them. I loved the elder but the traditional nursing homes are very cold and inpersonal. Every light of day seemed resembling an assembly line wake up 'em feed'em put 'em back to bed. Baby boomers are demanding more for their parents because they want more for themselves and its just about time! Our elders will stay next to us until their death. They LIVE their elderhood contained by a world without phone call lights, in a world of peace and stillness except for the constant laughter that fill our house. We have a garden contained by progress right now near an 101 year old growing spinach and tomatoes. Elders hold much insight to offer. Who better to ask than those who own seen it and lived it?

There really is no need for "nanny-cams" in recent times a new approach to hold we love our elders.

Visit. Be observant of their care. Let them tutor institution children. Make them as much a part of the community as our children, they are an asset that, sorrowfully, few people appeal these days.All that experience - and so few wanting to avail themselves of it.

whatever happen to 2 parents raising 5 children or 8 or 2 or even 1? why are we adjectives putting our parents other than coldness in nursing homes anyway unless they have need of 24hr round the clock care herein lies the material problem we dont need better nursing homes we inevitability grown adult children who should bring up the responsibility of caring for their aging parents freshly like they do contained by every other country around the world EXCEPT us!well if you know of any stop by them regularly and ask them how they are doing,send them gifts of PJ's,robes,tub accessories,cards on holidays,take one to lunch or shopping,just by showing you caution is all they ask and is what is needed for them.

Give them worthwhile job, real purpose to life span, without giving them deadline or holding unrealistic expectations (remember, they're old!). Let them pass on adjectives the knowledge they've acquire over their lifetimes. Take nurture of all of them as economically as they took care of adjectives of us at some point. Sad to speak, our nursing homes are for the most part, zilch more than warehouses for the elderly. They rate the nurses aides so poorly that you are getting inferior care. I have my eldest sister in a brand unusual facility, and she was treated beside indifference. For myself, I have arranged that if and when I get to the point that I can no longer precision for myself, I would rather verbs my own plug than go to a Nursing Home.Why do I similar to enemas so much?
