My husband's doctor told us he have a collapsed portion of his lung. How is it treatable?
Answer:
Um...is your hubby still in the hospital?
A collapsed lung is treated next to something called a chest tube. The tube is inserted into the chest cavity to drain the upper air so the lung can reinflate. It's a painful procedure...beyond question about it.
The chest cavity is certainly a vacuum. There should not be any air within there...the upper air should be in the lungs. When a lung collapses, it's usually because nouns has leak out of the lung into the chest cavity, increasing pressure and causing the collapse. The nouns must be drained to release the pressure, allowing the lung to reinflate.
A collapsed lung is usually caused by an injury that punctures the lung. It's call a pneumothorax.
