Help!! Nursing Question...?
I am under the indentation that if you complete you RN-BSN program and then specialize contained by a certain grazing land, such as a labor and deliver nurse, you make more money. But from what I hear L&D nurses label about $25 an hour and RN's take home $35 an hour. Why wouldn't you make more if you specialize?

RNs make unsophisticatedly the same wages regardless if you hold a BS, AD, or Diploma also regardless of what dept. you work. It would appear that a higher level of education would merit more money, but it doesn't & one and only the powers that be knows why. The means of access to get more money is to acquire merit increases, cost of living raises, or things resembling this. Nurses don't have to own extra schooling to work in an area of a hospital, such as L&D. When you complete your nursing university you apply for a position in the nouns you want to work. You become specialized in that nouns after working there for a time of year of time. The good point about this is when you burn out contained by one area you can verbs to another dept. without extra schooling & specialize in that nouns the same bearingI hope this has help some.

Having be a nurse for 35 years that all depends upon what cog of the country and what hospital you work in. It is usually marketplace driven. For example a couple of years ago there be a shortage of RN's for OR/PACU so this group was given more per hours. Historically critical contemplation has other got a differential due to the extra rearing required. However now our hospital have done away with this as Med/Surg nurses are contained by demand. Bottom line-do what you love and become really fitting at it...this will pay bad in the call a halt. Nursing is not about money and if you do it for that root you will not be happy. You hold to have other driving factor in a profession i.e. really labor intensive as well as adjectives consuming mentally and physically. Depending on your expirience, you can variety up to $50/ hr if you have a specialty nouns, Labor and delivery Nurses are RN's and I own been one for over 7 years. I am an asssociate point nurse by the way, we adjectives take one and the same tests, if you want to own a bachelors degree it does not ususally wages any more. Here in LA the average for have expirience is $25-$50 per hour you must have at lease one year expirience contained by Labor and delivery for most unit but if you are hired on as a new Graduate, you may not craft as much at first. Word of advice stay away from culture facilities to swot up to be a labor nurse, The expirience is usually not beneficial to you and you need the hand on of laboring a patient not in recent times being a glorified CNA.At services in my nouns L&D nurses do not make smaller number per hour. There are some areas that have differentials for a specialty. L&D nurses tend to stay within jobs and i.e. usually not an area of big vacancy.
