How do you pay for a stay contained by a nursing home?
My mother in law wants to go into a nursing home. She owns a flat so it will enjoy to be sold to pay for her effort.
Once the flat is sold, will she have to earnings weekly/monthly? Someone told us the nursing home will take the total amount (in this luggage about lb80,000) adjectives in one stir as soon as the flat is sold, which seems totally unreasonable!

I retired as a Care Manager surrounded by 1995 and part of my available job was assessing people's requests. I would do a financial assessment and based on that, the person's contribution to their safekeeping would be assessed by the County Treasurers.
Unfortunately I don't know current levels of charges contained by Nursing Homes (and they vary around the Country anyway) but she would enjoy been assessed to pay envelope a weekly amount until her Capital dropped to a certain plane (I think we are in a minute looking at something like lb15,000).
I believe that unmarked legislation has be introduced since I retired in which the Health Authority pays a sure percentage of Nursing Home fees which constitutes the nursing element and the resident pays for the supervision part of the bill (bed and board, aid with personal tasks, etc).
Your local Social Services organization will help sort it. Find their number beneath your County Council listing.

No as expected not.Someone has totally misled you.The charge will be paid monthly.A bill will be sent monthly to whoever is contained by charge of her money.I would like to make the addition of that I advise someone to investigate via Social Services whether she does enjoy to pay fully for herself.I realise that she will own a considerable sum of money from the sale of her flat.but sometimes when you look into it you discover that you don't hold to pay adjectives of it.You won't know unless you ask !Good luck
