Excruciating leg cramps at 4-4:30 AM. Need diagnosis, treatment!?

a friend of ours, Indian woman in late fifties, have multiple foot fractures two years ago, was toothless in classify for 2-3 months, and has since suffered leg cramps at same time rash morning (4-4:30am), for 2-3 minutes, for last two years, destroying her sleep for the rest of the morning, and forcing precipitate nights. Cramps presently may be spreading to right leg and thighs. Her otherwise highly proficient doctor have declared her condition a mystery, originally prescribing quinine (discontinued due to side effects), now dietary supplement (C-Q 10) which help but only a bit. Ring any bells? Any NET sites, or forums, that volunteer diagnostics for such "mystery conditions"?
Answer:

Loss of feeling...?

OK I know of two conditions that can impose these symptoms since I have one presently, and have have the other. One is more easily controled than the other. the easier one is call RLS or restless Leg Syndrom, where by and large at night, your leg may consistency creepy crawly, crampy, painful, or jolty. nearby is a medication I take it call requip. It keeps me asleep. You necessitate a doctors perscription. they start at a low dose, and work up, until they find the right dose.

the other is RSD (reflex Sypathetic Dystrophy), this one is usually started by an injury and usually a small one. it is a central fidgety system condition, and takes lots of physical dream therapy, medications (usually medication that they use for seizures, or antideppresents, that work on blocking audacity signals. It took about 1 year for mine to almost find fully rid of, once in a blue moon it will flare up.

I will supply you links to web sites for both conditions. To me RLS sounds more credible since she seems fine during the year. That is the good communication.

Has the doc ordered a doppler to rule out DVT? Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Leg cramps or any kind of cramp is usually the result of a want of something the body is telling you it wants...in this baggage potassium.eating bananas can really backing. So can drinking orange liquid.
Has the doctor ordered any recent lab work on this person to see what the electrolytes look approaching?
Maybe the ideal entity to do is to get another doc to lift a look and see what he thinks.
What more or less a neurologist? Has she seen one of those all the same? These are just some of the avenues that inevitability to be explored to properly diagnose this problem.

I stepped on on glass within the park, i got a insightful puncture wound for sure, I dont want to go to hospital?

I've have foot surgery and a severe sprain and every once in a while I will get leg/foot cramps. When I do, I start ingestion a banana every other day or so. This seem to clear up the cramps which I think are cause by a lack of potassium. Strawberries are also dignified in potassium.

I call for help next to my bee phobia?

Tell her to eat bananas. The potassium will support.

What is it called when the doc knock you on the knee near that instrument and your leg kicks out express n hard.

Try drinking at least possible 32 oz. of water a year. if it doesn't work, eat some bananas. If that doesn't work. If the cramp feels approaching someone real fatty is sittting on your legs at night while you sleep - next you could have restless leg syndrome. Me, my mother and my daughter adjectives have it. Can't stand covers on our legs. It's a strain. Mom takes stomach-ache meds for it.
