That depends on how he fell, be this playing and fell, fall out of a tree and scraped it against the trunk? How matured is he? We have scrape and bruises like this adjectives the time (I have amazing triage skills, appreciation to being the mother of boys). If he is moving okay (but he may be a bit stiff), I'd suggest icing it, especially if it is basically a scrape and not much blood. If he broke the skin create sure it's clean and put a heating pad on it. A bag of frozen peas or corn are great things for bruises and scrape.
