Why do I get so frequent migraines?
I have be getting migraines for about 10 years in a minute and am currently on beta blockers to prevent them however, they are not working so capably any more. Can someone recommend a good preventative medication that doesn't enjoy nasty side effects?
Answer:
Not really, or I would enjoy retired, a rich woman!! I am so sorry you get migraines! I get the !@#$%! things for about 35-37 years! I finally "outgrew" them-meopause. bah.) Beta-blockers didn't work for me. (Neither did calcium channel-blockers.) I assume you've hear of caffergot (works for some, but you have to hold "warning" that one is coming on.) I didn't. I understand that the "classic" migraine (aura, etc,.) is certainly rare. After more or less two lifetimes (seemed similar to that) of hanging out 3-4 night a week in the ER; a doctor give me DHE 45. (I know; sounds like a pesticide!) It can be given intravenously; but I couldn't do that myself. My neurologist give me a prescription for it; and I gave myself the shot (in my hip. where on earth there's lots! of "muscle", in my shield!) Start to finish, 40 minutes! No more headache! The night I get that first shot of the DHE 45 was the first time I ever walk into the ER with a migraine, and walk out without it! It be a god-send for me, because I no longer had to be panicky to death of the subsequent headache! I don't know whether it would work for you, or if you are at all competent to give yourself the shot, but I sure could, and did! You might check into it, if it works on your headache, at most minuscule you know what to order surrounded by the ER/at your doctor's office.(smile) Oh. I have a lot of luck beside Nardil, when my neurologist ordered it for me, finally. ( Before I went to her, painkillers be all that worked; IF they worked; it's adjectives a crap-shoot, as I'm sure you know! ) Nardil is a an MAO inhibitor, and the diet is kind of restrictive...(it can lift your blood pressure; dangerous if you combine it near the wrong foods/medications). It is/was used as an antidepressant. This happens to be a satisfied (for me) side-use. I was prepared to dispense up EATING, if something would only work!! The Nardil cut the frequency of the headache, by quite a bit. It's be about 10 years since I have a constant headache, (seemed that way, anyhow,) so I don't know what's out at hand these days. I freshly saw your question, and thought "Poor Baby!" Good luck, and conceivably something I said can be of help to you! Oh. The DHE 45 be designed specifically for the treatment of migraine, and had be out about 10 years previously anybody thought to mention it to me! Turns out; it wasn't very adjectives to very lots of us. Sure worked for me, thank god! Hope something is found that works for you, soon! Good luck kiddo.
I'm in a splint, is it bad that I purloin it off?
Try a automatic alternative - something with Feverfew contained by it. I know its readily available here contained by New Zealand but it should be in most robustness shops. What is a good method to stop sensation sleepy?
why are you on beta blockers? those are for high blood pressure and can be really unpromising for you.take magnesium and calcium. It's available at the strength food store.
In studies involving people next to recurring headache and migraines the number one thing found among them be a magnesium deficiency.
I enjoy the same problem, I steal magnesium and it helps. a great deal.
just supply it about a month to do it's work.
suitable luck
Topamax is an excellent preventative medicine. I took 200mg and never have one migraine while on it. It did have some awfully nasty side effects though. If I wasn't losing weightiness while taking it, I would have stopped for sure, but I stuck it out for several weeks and the side effects mostly go away.
Headache =[,& SOmething wrong with my eyes?
Depends on why you are getting migraines in the first place. Sometimes it is not a medication, it may be a lifestyle alteration. I avoided walking out into bright lights, red wine, tried to avoid high stress events as I know these were triggers I could control. Hormone level are not really something you can control and can cause migraines big time. My experience is that a hysterectomy (for other reasons) solved the problem. Went from 2 x / wk to 1 x per 3 months. Whew. Much better. It is pretty possible that this is from a tumor or something along those lines...
It took 3 years for a friend of mine and her doctors to figure out why she kept getting migraines it turned out that in that was some tumor and too much of her spinal fluid kept approval up.
the name of it is. pseudotumor cerebri
they put her on beta blockers too thinking that it be high blood pressure. If you believe it might be possible that you have this ask your dr. to do a spinal hit and check the pressure.
