Broken Ankle, screwed for life?

alright so i broke my ankle, its not a bad break, just a vertical crack in the lateral malleolus (the outer 'sphere shaped' bone of the foot) it goes about half way through the bone, so its not a clean break in two or anything like that.

i did not need surgery and use crutches to move aorund.

i've had a cast for 10 days and everything has been ok since i resolved to living on a futon (thus laying down for most of the day and keeping my leg horizontal). now i am attending university and it is exam time, so the other day i had no choice but to spend several hours on campus, keeping my leg vertical.

during the exam my cast began to feel extremely tight, since i can only guess my ankle began to swell.

i did some research and it seems i can expect swelling even AFTER the cast comes off (3.5 weeks from now) and the bone has mended

do broken ankles ever get back to normal or do they just continuesly have on and off swelling?
Answer:

If there's a big fire contained by a hospital, what happen to patients contained by the middle ofsurgery or intensive perfectionism?

well that depends on if it was set right and what you do for recovery. I broke my ankle when I was in 4th grade and it healed decently. I wouldn’t say it was ever 100%... partly due to the treatment being a walking cast, not a plaster cast. But my ankle was always slightly weak... about two years ago I severely sprained it and the sprain has been WAY more of a burden! My ankle is, and will probably always be enlarged and weak now, not to mention painful. My right foot is now ½ size bigger for shoes and it has been over two years!
So my advise would be to do everything you can now to heal it properly, and to be careful in the future because your risk of spraining it is obviously increased and a bad sprain is leaps-and-bounds worse!

I own am have close to put a bet on pains and approaching where on earth it fell close to something is siting on my bladder or something?

More than likely you will have swelling off and on.
Try some casttoos for your cast. It will take your mind off of it and help you feel better:
