Try asking. Not sure about how it works contained by the NHS these days, but in the private sector your X-rays are yours; they belong to you and you are reasonably within your rights to request and keep them. If you are seeing a specialist in the same trust the films should be made available for your appointment anyway. If you are going elsewhere (NHS or private) make sure that whoever you are referred to know the previous films are available so that they can request them before your visit.

You can ask for a copy of your X stream but the there will be a charge. Many hospitals now use digital imagery so they may not have the facilities to provide a traditional X shaft of light.
I work in a hospital and if we transfer a long-suffering to another hospital the X rays are put on a CD.
