Co-Proxamol was debarred from NHS prescription on safety grounds some time ago. I was detective novel and would very much like to see Co-codamol run the same way. Studies enjoy shown repeatedly that both drugs are at best 5% more potent as analgesics that simple paracetamol. However their risk/benefit ratio is much poorer. Co-Proxamol was a potentially dangerous respiratory depressant and really reasonably addictive. Co-codamol produces chronic constipation and also headaches and abdominal pain, ( which it is ironically habitually used to treat! ) and is also addictive. In general patients who have be taking either of them for any length of time, become convinced that substitutes are less adjectives, this is a perception mainly caused by the unpleasent bill effects of not taking Co-proxamol/Co-codamol, rather than a lack of potency of the alternative drug.How can you alleviate a "canker sore" hastily and strain free?
As you without question know, it was withdrawn because:- There appeared to be no benefit over paracetamol or co- codamol in jargon of pain relief;
- Some d*^kheads be killing themselves with them.
Do you own a friend or relation with either medical scholarship or a big mouth? Or preferably both? If so, take them along with you to the GP and net a (mild) fuss.
Or try changing GPs.
Or ask for a referral to a Chronic Pain Clinic.
Good luck - it's a terrible situation to be surrounded by.

How much can i get hold of from hurting my leg and arm by slipping contained by the grocery store?
It is no longer licenced for use and It was withdrawn from use by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) in 2007, some patients continued getting it vitally until stocks ran out.Your GP CAN prescribe it, though the supply of unlicensed co-proxamol is up to your gp, its only at his discretion and is solely his responsibility if you eliminate yourself with it, either accidentally or calculated. Its only prescribed for long term chronic backache, and unless you have tried every single other painkiller on the flea market, (and there are plenty of others which are stronger and less dangerous), he is not going to even consider prescribing it for you.
It is addictive and It have caused deaths, thats why it be removed. It has not been shown to be any more decisive than other painkillers, which have less addictive and insecure qualities.
Since its been removed, Ive not see a single prescription for it, and patients who were using it have said that the trial drugs they have been given work any just as well or better.
If you want to complain to the local nouns authority, go ahead, but you will probably be wasting your time. The drug is proven to be dangerous, thats why it be removed by the government. They cant over-ride your doctor, you are his patient and your benefit is his responsibility, no-one elses.
You could maybe approach the senior doctor at the practice, and ask for a meeting near him and your gp, you can explain your point of view, and your gp and the other partner/manager can review it, but unles you fit into the criteria for the drug, he is not going to change his mind purely because you kick up a fuss.
He is making this decision base on his knowledge and experience. You may not like his judgment, but he is making this decision with your condition formost in his mind.
