I was playing football today with some of my friends and I seem to twist back my thumb.. it be hard to move and hurt but I thought nothing of it and continued to play...

4 hours latter, the thumb is completely black and blue and really hurts when I touch it. It's also very difficult to move in any direction.

Is it simply bruised or what? Thanks

I have never broken my thumb, but I have broken several fingers over the years and respectively one of them turned black and blue. I would suggest just to be safe catch an x-ray. Black and blue means blood vessels enjoy been compromised so the risk of infection is present.
