Doctors and nurses: What's the typical hospital procedure?

Step by step, what happens when someone enters a hospital?

Answer:    I am an RN contained by the hospital.
1. get settled in room
2. RN does entrance assessment (asks alot of questions that you have already answered so be lenient with her) it is good to other carry a recipe card with your current medication so they know what you are on.
3. The RN then looks at the Doctors orders and initiates ex: starts IV and fluids if needed, Catheter if needed, obtain specimens if needed.
4. Radiology takes for x-rays if needed
5. Lab comes to draw blood.

If you could give me more info as to the source you are in the hospital I could be more informative but this is standard protocol..
It depends on why you're there. Usually it go something like this:

1- Get taken to and oriented into your room.
2- Get butt uncovered and don the ever fashionable hospital gown.
3- RN does her admission assessment.
4- RN get the IV's, foleys, etc. going.
5- Labs, x-rays, CT, MRI...depending on what your MD orders..
Varies, if you come in through ER or if you are sent by your physician, or come within as a same day admission from surgery.
