Dumb question., Do General physicians do xrays ?
Answer: Can General Physicians (GP) do xrays? The answer is yes.
Do most GP's or any other physician in private practice do xrays in their practice? That depends on the State and on the doctor. In NJ/NY, we have one of the strictest radiation laws in the country. It's not economically feasible to have a xray machine if it's not used frequently. Therefore, in NJ and NY, you're more likely to be referred out to a diagnostic imaging center to have xrays taken. .
Actually, you don't have to be an xray tec to do xrays. Veterinarians do them. Some emergency departments have ER residents that do them. Most doctors don't take the xrays themselves. It simply would not be a good use of their time.
Any physician can order xrays. Most xrays are read by a radiologist, but they don't have to be. Even if a radiologist is going to read a film, the ordering doctor will often review it him/herself also. That's not a dumb question, trust me there are a lot of dumb questions on here. No usually they do not. In order to do an xray a person has to be an xray tech. But if a General physician is also a certified tech I guess they would be able to do an xray..
no but they can refer you to have one at a hospital. Most surgerys dont boast x ray facilities, and the doctor is usually busy doing other things rather than taking x rays...
Dental technicians and vets are usually trained to do this however..
It mostly depends upon the type of physician you are reffering to since there are so many distinctive types of physicians specializing in numerous fields of science, psychology and much more
