Fever, headache, fatigue, stern twinge?
Three weeks ago it started with a fever. It's usually higher at hours of darkness, getting up to 101. Over the last few days it has been getting much worse. I am getting a headache, gone lower back pain, and have be extremely fatigued. Across my shoulders and into my neck is has been greatly stiff as well. I have been to several doctors, and none of them know what is wrong. Each of them did blood and urine test. The urine tests came back verbs, and they didn't find anything conclusive in the blood. The fatigue and aching everywhere has made it so I own already missed a week of work. My symptoms are only getting worse.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Answers: It sounds like mononucleosis or another virus. Some virus can attack the system for extended periods, like mono and can cause long-term effects. I would judge the doctors would have found evidence of mono but one can not be sure anymore. Often the tests they run are for specific common virus, but you may have one that was not part of what they be looking for. You say you have been to several doctors, and I can't serve but wonder if they duplicated the tests they each gave you, or that they took extramural tests beyond the first ones taken. I certainly hope they tested further, as it is possible that each doctor did duplicate test and didn't look any further than the original tests.
I would treat it as a virus and save taking aspirin or tylenol, drink lots of fluids (note, you could easily get dehydrated contained by winter and that can contribute to the problem), take warm showers to help next to back pain, eat okay, and get as much sleep as you can. Vitamin C has anti-viral qualities, so sort sure you are getting some. If you have not had improvement contained by a week, you need to contact one of the doctors and ask for referral to a specialist - or get additional test. Best of luck, hope you are feeling better soon.
