Making a long story short, my mom has been within more out of the hospital for the last 6 wks, she has foot drop very soon? Someone please explain..could this have been prevented? She is within a good hospital, she needs rehab because she is so delicate, and now foot drop? She is 67.

Did she have spine surgery? If not, it probably could own been prevented. A long stay in bed cause the muscles to become weak. Tight bedcovers pulling down on the foot can do it. A footboard is needed to keep the feet surrounded by an upright position. The nurses should have see to that. Hope she gets better, soon.
