Fractured thumb?
today at softaball practice a line drive hit me in my right (bear) paw. it turned purple and got pretty swollen at the base of my thumb, i put rime on it and the swelling went down, but its still really purple and hurts to the touch. about an hour ago i notice it started hurting and turning purple on the side too. i can move it, it doesnt hurt unless its touching something. do you think its fractured?
Answer: Sounds like it is basically bruised badly. You did the right thing by applying the rime, but you should keep that up. One applying is not enough. Any time you injure something and it begin to swell, ice is used on it for the first twenty four hours. Twenty minutes on, twenty off. After that, moist steam or soaking the hand in hot marine mixed with Epsom's Salt. Read directions on the bag. Did you try catching the bubble in your right bare foot, or was you hit on the top of the hand? The purple you are seeing is blood and the body will eventually hold your attention it. You might want to get an x-ray if this continues with no sign of getting your strength back. The thumb may have been knock out of place for a split second, or it stayed out of place. to me that sounds fractured. when you fracture your thumb, they put it in a strike. you should get it x-rayed and see what your doctor thinks, but from the sounds of your injury.. its most imagined fractured.It does not seem to be fractured. The joint have become stiff. Rub some oral medicin daily and apply tape so that reciprocated may not move. In 3 days, it will be ok.
probably not broken, just jammed real obedient.
better go on in and draw from it x rayed just to be on safe side. do verbs with the ice pack.
