Tightness misery contained by ankle and calf?

I been getting these pains lately most on my left leg, but it also sometimes happen on my right. I'm not sure how you describe it but it feel like my foot pulls to one side, and my ankle starts aching, so I would have to push my foot the conflicting direction so it would stop that "cramping up" feeling. There's like a aching sensation from my ankle to my calf. Is this middle-of-the-road? What are some things I could do to help it?
Answers:
Sounds like a charlie horse. These can be very stinging. The muscles cramp up so tightly that it can cause your ankle to pull to one side. That only piece that has ever worked for me was to walk it past its sell-by date. I hope this helps.
