What torment medication would be prescribed to a 15 year dated girl who a short time ago have an appendectomy?
And generally what would the instructions be for the medication? Like when would a doctor say to take the meds? Every few hours? Once a year?
Just trying to figure out some details on what happens after an appendectomy!

It depends on the surgeon's preferred pain medication, but it will probably be vicodin and it's usually taken 4-6 hours as needed for headache. But this is all a guess. I know you are trying to get a handle on what's going to come up in recovery, but your doctor will make the outcome on pain medication at the time of discharge. Your doctor, his resident or nurse will go through in detail as to what the discharge instructions are and they will send you home with paperwork with the directions and phone numbers to call in case you enjoy questions.
Good luck & quick recovery Source(s): I hold had a bunch of surgeries, my first was when I was 15.
Probably of late ibuprofen, or maybe tylenol 3's which have a small amount of codeine. The normal instructions for eather of these are every 4 hours as needed.
