my husband was told by the county that he can not work because he is not mentally stable enough to do so. How do we go give or take a few applying for ssdi? are there online papers we can file? any help would be great

First you hold to go to a doctor and get a diagnosis, or slip with the ending day you worked on it. Then call Soc Sec or go to an organization. They will give you a muti-page form to fill out. Then they might send you to one of their doctors too for further evaluation and proof. Then if they agree you qualify, you don't start getting salaried till 6 months after your last day worked.

In the meantime you might get SSI. I be lucky and had short term and long term disability insurance, to carry me through till they started paying.
