The main symptom of "Adrenal Fatigue is slowness and not dizziness or being lightheaded. Source(s): http://www.adrenalfatigue.org/about-adre…
Yes it is because you are anemic. If you are training hard enough to run a 6 mile minute you need to be on a training diet.
Hello. The function you get light-headed when climbing stairs is because you have Adrenal Fatigue, and your adrenal glands are reacting backwards to stress.

Among other things, your adrenals, which sit higher than your kidneys, are your stress glands. When you go from sitting or lying down to standing, or climb stairs, your body requires more oxygen to maintain proper function. When your adrenal glands sense this added "stress," they are supposed to secrete hormones to increase your blood pressure to drive more oxygen into your cell, and carry oxygenated blood up to your brain more quickly. The rise in blood pressure when going from lying down to standing up should be 5 - 10 mmHg for the top number of your BP reading (systolic pressure - when your heart beat; the bottom number, diastolic pressure, is when your heart is resting between beats should stay the same).
When the adrenal glands are fatigued, the blood pressure does not change when you go from lying down to standing, or climb stairs. If your adrenals are Very fatigued, your blood pressure will if truth be told drop when you stand up or climb stairs. This deprives your brain and your body of oxygen. It causes light-headedness, and increased respiration (getting out of breath) to try to compensate for the lack of oxygen.

Since you appear to be an avid runner, you probably don't want to hear this, but the best physical thing you can do to support your adrenal function is to stop running for awhile, and walk instead. Walking actually help to heal your adrenal glands, so they can respond appropriately to stress.

There is a very simple test you can do to confirm that I am relating you the truth about why you get light-headed climbing the stairs. It is called a Ragland's Test, used to assess adrenal function. Lie or sit down for 5 minutes. Take your BP surrounded by that position. The stand up and immediately take your BP again. If the top number stays the same or go down, you have adrenal fatigue. If the top number increases more than 10 pts, your adrenal glands are over-stimulated, and hyper-vigilant.

From a supplement/nutrition standpoint, there are some excellent choices to help your adrenal glands.
GAIA Herbs make a product called Afrenal Support, that includes Holy Basil, Rhodiola Rosea, Ashwaganda extracts in liquid capsule. They also make Rhodiola Rosea alone.

Mega Foods makes a supplement called Adrenal Strength. I resembling this one best.

Avoiding caffeine, other stimulants (even herbal ones), artificial sweeteners, HFCS, concentrated sugars, grains, and food chemicals like MSG will also help your adrenal glands restore to health. So will getting at least 7 hours of sleep each night - 8 is better - and human being asleep before 11 pm.

I'm not at my computer right now - I will add info on an excellent book on Adrenal Fatigue written by an M.D. When I win home.

I hope this helps you.
