Do aching medicine motivation extra saliva when you come stale of them?

I had my gallbladder removed surgically last Tuesday and was subsequently taking Vicodin for in the order of 6 or 7 days after that for the pain. My mouth was really dry while taking it, and I was really feeling thirst during the time. I stopped taking the Vicodin on Saturday, and on Monday i started noticing that I was having to swallow my saliva seriously more often than i usually do, that i was producing more than I normally do. Is that run of the mill? If not, what else would be making this happen?

i never have that problem but it could be your body compensating for what the medication did and just hasn't readjusted.
hate vendetta's has the answer, but in addition, you could also be dehydrating again;; bring back some water in you; gatorade even better & make sure you're getting ample all day;; & MOST pain meds form your mouth very dry, esp vicodin, also make ya constipated;; so because of this "xtra" salivation, IF you start to get "burning diarhhea", contact your doc...
Everyone reacts differently to pain medication so near is no way to say yes or no and be positive about it. I would only just wait a few days until all the medication is out of your system and if it continues call your Dr. You could also bid your pharmacist and see if that is a side effect of the medication. It could be the anesthetic that is causing your extra saliva, it other caused me to have extra saliva after my surgeries and if I had to guess I would speak the anesthetic is causing your problem. Drink a lot of fluids to rid your body of the anesthetic that kind of lays contained by the body until you eat and drink a lot of things and move around as much as allowed since anesthetics can also cause gas.
