Sudden Sinus Infection?

I was at work tonight, and suddenly my throat started hurting as if I was in the birth stages of strep throat, but the pain was only on the moved out side of my nose and the left side of my throat. Also, the pain started at the snap of a finger. So I drank some dampen and nothing changed. After alot of coughing and sneezing, I spit out some of the mucus I had coughed up and it had small amounts of blood contained by it. About 5 days ago I visited the hospital in regards to severe migraine headache located behind my right eye, that's when a cat scan was done and they told me I had a nasal cyst contained by my left nasal area (they didn't specify a specific location just said the disappeared side) and to follow up with my primary care doctor (which I don't have). At the time of the hospital visit and for months prior, I have no throat pain or nasal problems, not even a runny nose as far as I can remember, just migraine headache on occasion which they were treating with percocet. Well tonight after the sudden throbbing at work, I went back to the hospital thinking maybe the cyst have burst or something, and the doctor tells me I have a sinus infection and prescribes me AZITHROMYCIN 250mg and OXYCODONE 5/325mg, and gives me some literature on SINUSITIS and PHARYNGITIS.

My question's are:

Is it adjectives for a sinus infections to show its symptoms out of nowhere like that?

If it was in reality a sinus infection, can it stay primarily on a certain side of the nose/throat

Could it have anything to do with the cyst?

What is a biddable remedy to soothe the infection on top of the prescriptions?

Thank you

Answers:
Sinus infection can be exceptionally painful, but is not often sudden-onset (sinusitis sufferer for more than 12 years) and can present itself as a headache, often beside a feeling of pressure around the eyes and cheeks. I'd be more concerned about the blood present in the mucus.

Try sympathetically using steam as an inhalant - this eases the sinuses by helping to 'open up' the passages. If you've ever seen a cut-away performance of the skull, you'll know that the front of the skull around the nose and cheek bones is really just a maze of gap covered with bone. These spaces can fill with mucus, clog, or become infected. The azithromycin is to combat the infection, and the oxycodone for any strain.

I would recommend taking the FULL COURSE of antibiotics (and beware - they will give you a little bit of a stomach upset - and steaming. If the blood keeps showing up surrounded by your sputum or mucus, go back to a clinic and ask to be seen by someone who is more experienced contained by ENT (ear, nose and throat). Also, though this is highly unlikely to be the source of your sinusitis, check that you have be vaccinated against TB. Source(s): http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/sinus…
