Home remedies for a ear ache/infection?
I have had this ear ache/infection fir 2 weeks and it will not budge away. I dont want to call the doctor because last time I did it go away before my appt. so I had to go against the appt. I have tried the proxcide, a warm cloth over the ear, some headache relief ear drops from Wal-mart, onion and olive oil, and purely recent a warm cloth with brackish. Any other ideas.
Answer: when my children had them, I used an eyedropper and place give or take a few 4 drops od 70% rubbing alcohol down the canal. It makes the throbbing almost instantly go away. It wont return for a good 5-6 hours. I know it sounds corny... but it REALLY REALLY works. Just try it. I give this remedy to my neighbor two weeks ago when his son got sick and developed a bad ear infection stomach-ache was horrible... he dropped a few drops down his ear and in something like less than two minutes it was gone.. the throbbing was at least. The alcohol is not resembling water. It evaporates. It also wil kill the microbes causing the infection and as it evaporates, it leaves the canal dry. My Doctor give me this when my first child was born and I have be using it ever since. It helps with buying expensive meds. But you should still own it looked at anyway by a doctor. The Alcohol is to stop the pain instantly and help clear it. Hope this help!

Since Tylenol didn't work, I recommend you go to a licensed Audiologist or MD.Now that I've covered my butt, have you tried Candleing? It's controvercial, but it worked for me! The warmth from the ear candle sucks all kinds of crud and germs out of your ear, and into the candle.

I still reccomend an experienced psychotherapist to assist with this.
You can rinse with an acetic sharp solution but if it's a really bad ear infection you're going to need the antibiotic drops or pills from the Dr. If you've have it for 2 weeks, your Dr. should take you right away. Call him.
