How can I jump down asleep easier?

I have a hard time falling asleep a couple night a week. My husband works nights and that doesn't help. I don't want to start taking medication for it. What should I do besides cut out caffeine and conceivably read before bed?

Drink a hot beverage and pick up something that you know that you will read whether a magazine or a book. Read it in low level lighting, in recent times enough to read the book or magazine, keep yourself away from any lights and save yourself cool - not too warm..
