My daughter fell and cut her chin open. A nurse at an urgent care clinic tape it up with steri strips b/c she said the dr. on duty was not appropriate with stitches. She thought I should go to the er. I have 4 children with me at the time and was not competent to go sit all darkness at the er, so I took her to another dr. who looked at it through the tape and said that it would heal fine. A few days subsequent a dr. took off the tape and it still looked really discouraging to me. The doctor placed more tape over it, but left room for it to breathe. Now it have scabbed up and looks like it healed up minus closing. The tape is still on it but the scab can be seen through it. What can I do to label this better and try to keep it from scarring very discouraging? Please help!

Not much to be done now. Once the scab comes stale (which you should allow to happen on its own) & the scar begin to mature there are different things that can be done. One is Mederma, a cream specifically applied to minimize scarring. There are also silicone sheets that can be used.

Any time you have a significant wound on the face, you should try to own a plastic surgeon do the stitching. They make tiny stitches w/ very fine suture objects, leaving a scar that is to say almost impossible to see once it has healed.

If the cut is scabbing over, I don't know why they verbs with the tape. It is time it comes stale. The scab will eventually come off on it's own, provided the child doesn't knock it off and the bleeding starts adjectives over again. When the cut is completely healed over, if you want to help achieve the scab off, keep putting some Vaseline over it. Once the scab does come stale, the skin will look different because it is new skin. Take a vitamin E gel capsule, cut sour a little to squeeze out the vitamin liquid, and rub it it over the bright skin. In time, and it may be a long time, the skin will look normal.
