How long does a torn calf muscle clutch to make well?
I torn my left calf muscle nearly 4 weeks ago now. I go to the hospital where they treated me for a DVD ( which it wasn't) and diagnosed me with a torn muscle.
I enjoy been resting it and trying to do a bit more walking everyday but i still can't put my heel to the floor or walk minus 1 crutch.
The pain as well have moved to all over my leg instead on just 1 side. It is throbbing everyday and it is worse at darkness. It is still swelling, this happens mainly contained by the evening.
Am i doing something wrong? and how long does it normally take to treat? or does the pain get worse formerly it gets better.
Thanks
Answer: 6-8 weeks for full recovery ,.
Have you have an ultra-sound done, or any other type of scan?
Sounds like it is not healing right. I have a similar problem, and it wasn't until I had the scan, that we found that the tear hadn't heal at all and a large hematoma have formed. I had to have adjectives the "dead" blood sucked out before the healing process could verbs.
It was about 8-9 weeks up to that time walking was comfortable, and about 6 months past I could run on it again..
Expect it can take six to eight weeks. Muscle is well vascularized and does alleviate well, just make available it time. Continue to stay off of it as much as possible and keep it elevated. If it go on too much longer I would consider seeing a primary care physician. I'm assuming you went to the emergency room the first time? I would try to avoid the ER. See someone who will be more thorough. That point need rest. You can re-hurt over and over and don't realize it. Maybe by keeping it band that would minister to.
